2023 Research Achievement Awards

The University of Virginia honored faculty members for their outstanding research and scholarship at the fifth annual Research Achievement Awards event, held Thursday at The Pavilion at Boar's Head Resort.

2024 Rath Award Winner: De'Ajree Branch

De'Ajree Branch, a UVA graduate student in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, is the 2024 winner of the Bhakta Rath Research Award.

Raphael Malbrue: New Attending Veterinarian and Director for the Center for Comparative Medicine

The University of Virginia has hired Dr. Raphael (Ralph) Malbrue to UVA as the new Attending Veterinarian and Director for the Center for Comparative Medicine. He started at UVA in May 2023. Malbrue was previously the Associate Director of the Animal Resources Core for the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Spencer Tassone, a UVA graduate student in Environmental Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences, is the 2023 winner of the Bhakta Rath Research Award.

Kimberly Mayer Named Associate Vice President for Research Development at UVA

The Office of the Vice President for Research announced that Kimberly Mayer, PhD, MBA, will be UVA's next Associate Vice President for Research Development. Mayer currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Research at University of Texas, Arlington. She previously served as the Executive Director of the Donna and Benjamin M.
