PRECISION HEALTH FOR POPULATIONS

Karen Ingersoll is the faculty lead for this initiative. The work will examine and consider how we can use the tools of precision health to improve outcomes and reduce disparities for communities and populations – ranging from reducing cancer in rural communities to developing scalable digital interventions to support young people.

Human behavior, social and environmental circumstances, and individual choices are a major driver of health. The revolution in big data, machine learning, and precision analysis offers us unique opportunities to understand the population level effects of these environments and behaviors and to craft effective interventions. The work on this initiative will examine and consider how we can use the tools of precision health to improve outcomes and reduce disparities for communities and populations – ranging from reducing cancer in rural communities to developing scalable digital interventions to support young people.

Key question: How we can use the tools of precision health to improve outcomes and reduce disparities for communities and populations?
