National Security Program

The University of Virginia National Security Program (UVA-NSP) is tasked with operational management of the university’s sensitive and classified research activities. From initial capture through execution, UVA-NSP supports researchers by providing expertise in defense, intelligence, and other areas of national security interest.  This office also manages secure facilities and personnel clearances for the University in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). These facilities are located off-grounds at the University of Virginia Research Park, North Fork, providing an additional level of security and access control.

In addition to management of the program, the Director of National Security Programs serves as a liaison for the review and dissemination of research enterprise intelligence, insider threat, and cyber security reports from federal partners to key decision makers at the University of Virginia.
